Everybody Whiffs in the Barry Bonds Steroid Saga : Wired article HW 3

It is a sad commentary on society when an outstanding and talented athletes,"Personal best" just isn't good enough. The decision to resort to performance enhancing steroids is definitely not an easy one to make.Total dedication, intense devotion, gruelling practice sessions as well as natural talent, just doesn't cut it. The battle to be noticed to be on top and to make the big bucks is not easy,in fact impossible without a little help. At the time that Barry Bonds was taking steroids so were so many other athletes. I am sure he knew there were risks but the intense desire to achieve ultimate fame and break the home run hitting record outweighed the risks. We have all taken stupid risks and have been blinded by the ultimate outcome. The playing field needs to be level for performers to be ranked. Crucifying an athlete for decisions he has made in his quest for greatness is not for a person outside looking in. Barry himself must examine his choices and decisions he has made in his career. I am sure they were not easy ones.
